Study Skills

At Bright Ideas, students learn test-taking strategies which enable them to approach multiple choice and essay tests with increased self-assurance and minimized anxiety. Academic performance is dramatically affected by study skills and study habits. Learning time-management, note-taking, careful listening, and following directions are just a few of the many ways in which confidence is built and academic success is achieved.

Test Prep (PSAT, SAT, SAT II, ACT)

Standardized tests are tedious and overwhelming; however, with the help of our professional tutors, students will feel comfortable, poised, and prepared for the SATs and ACTs. Our one-on-one approach to tutoring gives students the skills necessary to succeed on these tests. We offer assistance on entire exams, or, if the student feels unprepared for specific subjects/sections, we will happily tailor the tutoring sessions to focus on the areas of the test that he/she finds the most challenging. We teach helpful problem solving strategies and tips to becoming a more time efficient test taker, and have the student apply these techniques by taking practice tests. We find that practice tests not only assure our professionals that the student has retained the strategies, but also makes the student feel more comfortable with both the time limit and the types of questions that will be presented on the day of the actual test. If your child works better with others, small group preparation can also be organized at a discounted rate. Don't wait until the night before the SAT to cram; sign up for test prep tutoring sessions and take the test with confidence. These courses may begin at your convenience.

CMT, SSAT and ISEE Prep

Tutoring will determine your child's needs and review skill deficits. Application of newly-learned strategies in practice tests with open-ended and multiple choice questions will prepare your child to perform at his highest level with confidence.

If you want to be really great at something, forget about fancy and feel-good techniques. Focus on mastering the fundamentals.
